Community

Our community is at the core of our mission at Bloom Op Shop!

We pledge any profit made quarterly to 2 chosen organisations.
This quarter, if we make a profit, we hope to support:
Pay The Rent and Giv3 our Time.

Where we cannot make a difference monetarily, Bloom Op Shop engages in mutual aid through material donations. Find out more below!

  • Giv3 Our Time is a volunteer-based organisation feeding homeless people and providing support throughout Brisbane. Founded by a former rough sleeper, Giv3 Our Time runs by the motto - Real people, Real stories, Real experience; Now making changes within our communities.

  • We operate on the unceded lands of the Yuggera and Turrbal peoples. Pay the Rent is a grassroots initiative, with a focus on protecting First Nations rights, including practical support.

    Amount raised so far: $200

  • Currently Bloom Op Shop accepts clothing for adults only, so any baby or children's clothing that is included in our intake bags are given to Baby Give Back, a Gold Coast charity aiming to give children a safe start to life by providing essential items to families in crisis.

    Current Total: 10kg clothing

  • Valley Hearts is a small, volunteer-based charity that seeks to support the marginalised community of the wider Fortitude Valley area through food, flea market, accomodation furnishing and more!

    Amount raised: $200

  • Bloom Op Shop provides mutual aid through supporting the Street Fridge & Pantry at West End Community House.
Alongside food, we have provided warm winter clothing, and clothing vouchers.

  • We receive far more bras than we sell, so we are currently collection a parcel full of bras to send to Support the Girls. Support the Girls empowers vulnerable, disadvantaged and isolated women and girls with access to professionally fitted bras, essential products and the support needed to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.

  • Sometimes non-clothing items make their way to us! We are currently filling a suitcase with items useful to our local community living in Musgrave Park such as - unopened cosmetics and skincare, unopened undies and socks, blowup beds and the suitcase itself.

Please note: we do not accept these items, we are trying to ensure they are put best to use.
