About Clothing Intake/Recycling
Bloom Op Shop is an independent social enterprise started by the founder of fab.LOOP as a way to provide the public with an easy way to recycle their clothing responsibly, regardless of condition, while keeping secondhand clothing affordable and accessible.
The average Australian sends 23kg of clothing to landfill each year, and we're trying to lower this number!

faq's
Who can recycle their clothes with us?
Everyone! You can drop off to our Brisbane location during our opening hours, or you can mail-in through our textile recycling partner fab.LOOP (reopening soon!). Our founder started both Bloom Op Shop and fab.LOOP to work symbiotically together - unwearable clothing that Bloom receives go to fab.LOOP for recycling, and useable clothing that fab.LOOP receives goes to Bloom!
Where/where I drop off clothing?
You can drop off to our Newstead op shop during our opening hours. We are open in Newstead Thursday + Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday 10am-4pm and Sunday 11am-3pm. Our opening hours are also on Google if you forget!
Why do I get a voucher?
As an independent social enterprise op shop and textile recycling hub, we want to offer our customers incentives for recycling their clothing with us and keeping op shopping affordable for their community!
What happens to my items?
Once we receive your parcel or bag, it is put in the sorting queue. Wearable/useable items go to Bloom Op Shop, where all quarterly profits are donated to charities and organisations, and unwearable items either to go fab.LOOP for recycling, or sent to a recycling partner. We can verify your qualification for a voucher in-store on the spot, however mail-in will incur a waiting period for postage and approval.
Terms & Conditions
Definitely not the most exciting part of this page, but we do have a few limits on our recycling as follows:
- One voucher is redeemable per customer per calendar month. You are required to provide your first and last name and email address to create a customer account through our website to redeem a voucher either in-store or online.
- Your clothing parcel/bag must contain minimum of 6 eligible items, or in the case of fabric scraps/textile recycling only, must weigh a minimum of 500 grams as per fab.LOOP textile guidelines. If you are bringing both clothing and textile recycling, you only need to satisfy the criteria for one category, however you will only receive one voucher - eg. You have brought in 10 items of clothing, but only 200 grams of fabric scraps. The clothing category is eligible, therefore your textile recycling can also be accepted.
- Voucher must be used in a purchase with minimum product $20 value (shipping exluded), and cannot be used on conjunction with any other offers/sales.
- Vouchers will only be issued online or in-store upon inspection of your parcel/bag to confirm it meets the above terms and conditions. This will occur when a Bloom Op Shop staff member has verified the contents of your bag either in-store or online.
- Bloom Op Shop reserves the right to reject parcels and void vouchers if items are unhygienic/biohazardous, or more than 10% of the total contents is not on the accepted list. In the case that a rejected parcel has been mailed-in, you must pay for return postage.
- Vouchers are not redeemable for cash, and are not replaceable.
- If you do not meet the criteria for minimum numbers or weights, Bloom Op Shop reserves the right to give a secondary offer. This will not be offered for bags including items we do not accept.
- Bloom Op Shop and fab.LOOP textiles are not responsible for items lost through Australia Post.
- Items dumped at our premises outside of opening hours are deemed ineligible.
